| 內容簡介 |
陸治（西元一四九六－一五七六年），江蘇吳縣人，字叔平，號包山子。為人孝悌好義，詩文書畫皆佳，曾遊藝於祝允明、文徵明之門，畫風清雅，山水、花鳥都能自出己意。本幅為「陸治寫生冊」之一開，繪折枝牡丹一，以對角線的構圖，展現於畫幅中，紅花綠葉，相映生輝。沒骨敷染雅妍，留白的背景，更襯托出牡丹的空靈。畫上有題詩：「四月春闌風雨狂，玉顏狼藉惱人腸；當年帝子華筵上，何只移燈照海棠。」

| Description |
Note the diagonal composition of this painting of a cut-off branch of peony. The red of the flowers and the green of the leaves reflect one another; the “boneless” washes are radiant. Even the white unpainted background complements the peony’s loveliness. Lu Chih was from Wu County in Kiangsu. His style name was Shu-p’ing; his sobriquet, Pao-shan-tzu. As a person, Lu was noted for his filiality and integrity, and as a man of letters. He was famous not only as a painter but also as a poet, essayist, and calligrapher. Lu studied with Chu Yun-ming and Wen Cheng-ming. His paintings reflect a refined sense of style; his landscapes and depictions of flowers and birds are original.
