Earliest existing Korean blue and white porcelains date back to the early half of the 15th century. For imperial use only, Korean blue and white porcelain wares were produced in small quantities and never became an overseas trade item.The large jar has vertical brim at the mouth and round shoulders. The abdomen concaves near the bottom. There is a seam on the body, and the bottom of the jar is exposed and unglazed. Some grains of sand are adhered to the stand. Other than the bottom part of the abdomen, the jar has decorations throughout in underglaze blue. The main feature is a four-claw dragon. The dragon is vividly depicted with delicate lines. It is presumed to be the work of imperial painters at the Choson court. Other motifs include clouds, ruyi, and strings.
