The double-headed kendi is in the shape of a pair of mandarin ducks. The male looks forward, with a spout at its mouth; the female looks back. The two birds share one body, with a mouth at the back. The exterior is decorated with underglaze blue. Feathers are outlined with neat lines, and the breast features a ruyi motif. The two tails are also decorated with motifs. A foot is painted on each side of the belly, and decorative plants and flowers are drawn around the belly. Glaze has peeled off at the crown of the male bird and the tips of the two tails, and there are traces of gold foil.
