牡丹迎風搖曳，鴛鴦依偎於花叢下。畫家特意將這兩項寓意「富貴」「祥和」的題材結合在一起，為整幅畫面帶來了祥瑞之氣氛。

| Description |
Swayed by a breeze, a peony bush shelters a pair of mandarin ducks nestled beneath its branches. The artist has combined in his painting the notion of prosperity, symbolized by the peonies ("flowers of wealth"), and the notion of tranquility, symbolized by the resting birds. The painting as a whole represents auspiciousness.

本幅並無作者款印，品名是據原籤題而訂，《石渠寶笈》初編則著錄為〈明人花下鴛鴦圖〉。畫中盛開的牡丹迎風搖曳，一對鴛鴦依偎棲息於花叢底下。花葉採沒骨法直接點染，生意俱足，設色亦明亮繽紛，引人愛賞。
明代花鳥畫經常蘊含有吉祥的寓意，例如本作即是藉牡丹花代表富貴榮華，以鴛鴦象徵愛情，將兩種題材結合於一圖，恰可援以祝願夫妻幸福恩愛，共享富貴。

With no seal or signature of the artist here, the title of this work derives from the original label given by editors of the first edition of the Qing dynasty imperial catalogue Shiju baoji. Swaying in the breeze is a peony bush in full bloom sheltering a pair of mandarin ducks nestled beneath its branches. Using the "boneless" method of directly applying washes for the flowers and leaves, they appear quite lively. The coloring is also bright and opulent, attracting the viewer’s attention.
Ming bird-and-flower paintings often contain auspicious meaning. For example, here the artist depicted peonies to represent wealth and prosperity, while the mandarin ducks are a traditional symbol of love. Together, they suggest a blessing of shared love and prosperity for a husband and wife.

この作品には作者の款印がなく、作品名は題籤に記されていたものである。『石渠寶笈』初編には「明人花下鴛鴦図」とある。風に搖れる滿開の牡丹と、花の下で寄り添うつがいの鴛鴦（オシドリ）が描かれている。沒骨法（畫技の一種）で直接描かれた花葉は、実に生き生きとしている。明るく色とりどりの著色も魅力的である。
明代の花鳥畫は吉祥の意が込められていることが多く、例えばこの作品も牡丹によって富貴栄華を表し、鴛鴦は愛情を象徵している。2種類の題材を一図にまとめ、夫婦が仲むつまじく幸せに、共に豊かに暮らせるよう願ったものである。
