| 內容簡介 |
作者余省，生卒年不詳，常熟（今江蘇省常熟縣）人，字曾三，號魯亭，與父余珣、弟樨俱善繪畫。高宗乾隆年間，和唐岱、周鲲等人，同時供職內廷畫院。他的畫路很廣，山水、花鳥、蟲魚、蘭、竹、水仙等都能畫，尤其擅長畫蜻蜓草蟲。而且工筆與寫意兼能。本卷蘆雁圖便是屬於筆墨著色兩皆簡放的粗筆作品，畫那湖渚島嶼，紅蓼白蘆間，雁群棲息情景。於描寫雁的動止休憩情態，栩栩饒有生趣。

| Description |
Yu Hsing (tzu Tseng-san, hao Lu-t’ing) was a native of Ch’ang-shu in Kiangsu Province. The dates of his birth and death are not known. His father Yu Hsun, and his younger brother Yu Chih, were also able painters. During the reign of the Emperor Kao Tsung (Ch’ien-lung), together with the painters T’ang Tai and Chou K’un, he served in the imperial painting academy. The scope of his painting was very broad and included landscapes, birds and flowers, insects and fish, orchids, bamboo and narcissus. He was especially able to paint the dragonfly and insects which live in the grasses and was skilled in both the kung-pi or fine lined and precise, and the hsieh-i or free and impressionistic, manners of painting. This scroll, in which he has used both ink and color, is of a simple and free type of rather coarse brushwork and depicts wild geese in a setting of small islets on the water with plants and grasses. His descriptions of wild geese both in movement and at rest are vivid and lifelike.
