衛昇，生卒年不詳。以畫花鳥著稱。
紫薇樹身光滑，俗名「猴剌脫」，若以手抓其膚，徹頂動搖，故名「怕癢花」。四五月間開花，花期接續至八九月，又名「百日紅」。花生於枝末，瓣六出，縐如碎絨，蒂圓蕊繁。畫中紫薇，花盛蒂眾，由左下方挺出，欣欣向榮，搖曳生姿。

| Description |
Little is known of Wei Sheng other than the fact he lived during the Sung dynasty and was well-known as a painter of birds and flowers.
Crape myrtle flowers in April and may, and the blossoms last until August and September. For this reasons it is known as “one hundred day red.” The flowers emerge at the end of the branches, six petals each, wrinkled like pieces of cotton. The calyx is round and the stamens plentiful. In this painting, the crape myrtle is shown flourishing, rising abruptly from the lower left with sensuous, waving movements.this painting is from an album called Sung-Yuan Chi Hua.

衛昇，生平不詳。元代（1279-1368）夏文彥〈圖繪寶鑒〉卷四有「衛昇，畫花鳥甚佳」七字與南宋（1127-1279）畫人並列，故推測應為南宋畫家。
本幅選自〈宋元集繪冊〉，紫薇樹姿優美，花色鮮豔，於夏季開花，花期長達數月，故名「百日紅」，為園林中夏秋季重要觀花樹種。畫中紫薇由左下方挺出，花紅葉綠，欣欣向榮。蕊絲如繐的花心、皺摺細碎的花瓣，與橢圓飽滿的花苞，都成功捕捉了紫薇的特色。(20110102)

Although Wei Sheng's dates are unknown, Xia Wenyan of the Yuan dynasty (1279-1368) in his Precious Mirror of Painting (chapter 4) has a short entry that states, "Wei Sheng: Extremely gifted at flower painting." It appears in his discussion of Southern Song (1127-1279) painters, suggesting that Wei was also an artist of that period.
This work comes from "Album of Collected Song and Yuan Paintings." It shows an elegant branch of crape myrtle with blossoms of vivid color. This tree flowers in summer and its blossoms last for several months, hence its alternate name in Chinese as "Hundred-days red." It is an important flowering tree for appreciation in summer and autumn. In this work, a branch of crape myrtle extends into the composition from the lower left, the red blossoms and green leaves thriving with life. The centers of the blossoms appear like dense strands of silk forming tassels, the petals folded into delicate crinkles. Also, the full buds are oval-shaped, thus successfully capturing the unique features of the crape myrtle.(20110102)

衛昇、生沒年不詳。元代（1279-1368）夏文彥『図絵寶鑑』卷四に「衛昇は花鳥畫がたいへんよい」とあり、南宋時代（1127-1279）の畫人の一人に列せられていることから、南宋時代の畫家だと思われる。
本作は『宋元集絵冊』に収錄されている。優美な姿が美しい紫薇樹（サルスベリ）は夏に色鮮やかな花を咲かせる。花期が長く數ヶ月も咲き続けるので、「百日紅」とも稱される。夏から秋を彩る大切な観賞用樹木の一つである。畫面左下方から枝を伸ばす紫薇は、よく茂った綠の葉の上部に赤い花をつけている。穗のようなしべ、細かく縮れた花弁、楕円形に膨らんだつぼみなど、紫薇の特色を巧みに捉えている。 (20110102)
