王原祁，（西元一六四二至一七一五）江蘇太倉人，時敏之孫，字茂京，號麓臺。康熙庚戌進士，歷官少司農。畫由家學，遠邁時倫，為清四大家之一。
此幅成於六十九歲，寫雲壑小景，用筆於流暢中見其含蓄有韻。設色極變化而極協調，屋宇點綴，雖小處亦無一率筆。

Wang Yűan-ch’i (1642-1715)
Ch’ing Dynasty
Wang Yűan-ch’i , a native of Kiangsu, was the grandson of Wang Shih-min. In 1670 he received his chih-shih degree and later served in several high official positions. Wang learned to paint from having grown up in the refined artistic climate
of his family, but his own particular style expresses pictorial ideas quite different from those current at the time.
This landscape after Wang Meng depicts an intimate landscape deep in clouds. The fluid handling of the brush possesses its own subtle rhythm. The colors are worked with variety and harmony. Great care has been taken with the painting, down to the very tiniest details.
This work was executed in 1705 when the artist was sixty-eight years old.
