| 內容簡介 | 郎世寧（一六八八－一七六六）意大利人。十九歲入天主教耶穌會為修士，習畫與建築。二十七歲來華傳教，召入內廷供奉。善畫人物花鳥，尤善畫馬。 油畫，香妃著甲冑戎衣，寫影剛健婀娜。 |
| Description | Lang Shih-ning (1688-1766), born Giuseppe Castiglione, was a native of Milan. When at nineteen he became a Jesuit he already excelled at painting and architecture. At twenty-seven he journeyed to China as a missionary and was summoned to the Imperial Court where he served under the K’ang-hsi, Yung-cheng, and Ch’ien-lung emperors. He is known for his rendering of figures, flowers and birds, and most especially for his dogs and horses. He painted in the Chinese manner, but made use of Western techniques such as shading and perspective, and of Western colouring agents, which give his works great vividness and realism. This is an oil portrait of the “Fragrant Consort” Hsiang Fei. She is clothed in the armour and regalia of a European noble. The brushwork is graceful and unyielding. |
