| 內容簡介 |
陳洪綬(西元一五九八-一六五二年),字章侯,號老蓮,甲申後自號老遲,又號悔遲、弗遲、雲門僧、九品蓮臺主者,浙江諸暨人。畫法遒逸,善山水,尤工人物。
老樹畫禿,不畫細枝,雙鳩棲於其上。樹後大葉喬木一株,樹下襯以荊棘坡石。古木枝幹圓勁有如篆籀,荊棘筆爽利而有擒縱,坡石起伏頓挫,皴法流暢靈動。焦墨大筆點苔,益增其精警。綾本光潔,用色甚澹,秋色荒寒野趣,躍然紙上。

| Description |
Ch’en Hung-shou was a native of Chu-chi, Chekiang. His style name was Chang-hou, and his many sobriquets included Lao-lien (Old Lotus), Lao-chih, Hui-seng, Wu-chih, and Yun-men-seng. His calligraphy was intriguing and forceful and he specialized in landscape and figure painting.
Two “pigeons” perch in a leafless old tree whose small branches have long since disappeared. Behind the old tree grows a taller tree with large leaves, and below, several brambles project from a small incline. The brushstrokes in the branches of the old tree are dry, round, and forceful, resembling those used in seal script characters. The small incline in the lower part of the composition curves gently, while the texture strokes that define its surface are lively and flowing. The moss dots in rich, black ink further enliven the composition. The colors on the glossy silk are light and somber. This autumn scene, barren and cold, captures the feeling of wildness in nature, and certainly ranks among the very best of Ch’en Hung-shou’s paintings from life.
