李因，女，浙江會稽人，生在神宗萬曆三十八（公元一六一０）年，死在清聖祖康熙二十四（公元一六八五）年，字今生，別號是庵，又號龕山女史，嫁海寧人葛徵奇為妾，能畫花鳥，一生專學陳道復。並用沉香木刻像奉供家中，但是，畫藝却去陳畫不可道里計。本幅畫梅，不僅枝幹花瓣，筆致雷同，且墨色單薄平板，毫無變化。

| 內容簡介 |
李因（西元一六一六至一六八五年），字今是，又字今生，號是庵，又號龕山逸史，錢塘（今杭州）人。海寧葛徵奇妾。善水墨畫，亦工蘆雁。其夫每加以題跋，嘗云「花鳥我不如姬，山水姬不如我。」葛沒後，以筆墨自給。能詩，有竹笑軒吟草。
山雀兩隻，棲息梅枝上下，以淡彩點染塗繪，復以濃墨點綴，神姿妙態，栩栩如生，臘梅一枝，以蒼勁筆墨出之，師法陳淳，無閨閣氣。

Plum Blossoms and a Pair of Birds

Li Yin (tzu Chin-sheng, hao Shih-an and K’an-shan nu-shih) came from K’uai-chi in Chekiang; she married the painter Ko Wu-ch’i of Hai-ning. A painter of flowers and birds in her own right, she was such an ardent disciple of Ch’en Tao-fu that she carved his portrait in wood and venerated it in her home. Although all of her paintings were executed in Ch’en’s style, she could not equal his ability. In this painting of plums there is no variation in the brush strokes among the branches, trunks, flowers, or petals, and the ink in of a uniformly weak tonality, without variation.
