法書

正月卅日。熹頓首再拜教授學士契兄。稍不奉問。鄉往良深。比日春和。恭惟講畫多餘。尊履萬福。熹衰晚多難。去臘忽有季婦之戚。悲痛不可堪。長沙新命。力不能堪。懇免未俞。比已再上。計必得之也。得黃壻書。聞學中規繩整治。深慰鄙懷。若更有心開導勸勉之。使知窮理修身之學。庶不枉費鈐鍵也。向者經由坐間。陳才卿覿者登第而歸。近方相訪。云頃承語及吳察制夫婦葬事。慨然興念。欲有以助其役。此義事也。今欲便與區處。專人奉扣。不審盛意如何。幸即報之也。因其便行。草草布此。薄冗不暇它及。正遠。唯冀以時自愛。前需異擢。上狀不宣。熹頓首再拜。

內容簡介 朱熹(西元1130-1200年),字元晦,號晦翁、晦庵、紫陽、考亭、雲谷老人、滄洲遁叟,安徽婺源人。紹興進士,歷仕高、孝、光、寧四朝,累官至寶文閣待制,秉性剛直,力正風教,其為學以窮理致知,反躬實踐為主,集宋代理學之大成。其翰墨亦工,善行、草,尤善大字,然不以書名,蓋為其學所掩。 此牘中有「長沙新命」句,知為朱氏知潭州時所書,其書筆勢迅疾,無意於求工,而尋其點劃波磔,無一不合書家矩矱。本幅選自「宋賢書翰」冊第二十幅。
Description Chu Hsi (style name Yuan-hui; sobriquets Hui-weng, Hui-an, Tzu-yang, K'ao-t'ing, Yun-ku lao-jen, and Ts'ang-chou tun-sou) was a native of Wu-yuan in Anhwei. Receiving his chin-shih civil service degree in the Shao-hsing reign(1131-1162), he served the court in the latter half of the 12th century, ultimately achieving the post of Attendant in the Pao-wen Pavilion. Of upright and straightforward character, he wished to change society. And in his studies, he relentlessly pursued and applied his theories to solve the problems of his age. As a result, he was able to achieve a grand synthesis of Neo-Confucianism. Chu Hsi was also skilled at calligraphy, being good at running and grass script and excelling at writing large characters. He was known more for his learning than his calligraphy. The text of this piece refers to Ch'ang-sha, indicating that this letter was written when Chu Hsi was prefect of T'an-chou. His calligraphic style here is quick without attempting to achieve technical perfection, yet it manages to reach a balance. Despite the speed with which the characters were written, this work reflects the basic standards of calligraphy. This is the 20th leaf in the album Sung hsien shu-han.
