王蒙(西元一三○八—一三八五年),吳興人。字叔明,號黃鶴山樵,趙孟頫外孫。畫得趙氏法而能自立面目,為元四大家之一。
疊嶂深林,溪橋過客。於溪山深處,村舍水榭櫛比鱗次,愈見其深邃。通幅皆用中鋒濕筆,生動而有力。

Wang Meng was a native of Wu-hsing, Chekiang. His style name was Shu-ming; his sobriquet Huang-ho shan-ch’iao. As the grandson of Chao Meng-fu, he was able to achieve Chao’s method and further to establish his own style.
Amid serried peaks and dense forests a guest crosses a small bridge to the small village nestled in this remote valley. The steep verticality and layers of village houses in the mountains accentuate the spatial depth. Throughout the painting a wet upright brush is cmployed, with a particular nervousness seen in the hair-like texture strokes of the rocks.
