內容簡介(中文) 文徵明(西元1470-1559年),江蘇長洲(今江蘇蘇州)人。初名壁,字徵明,後以字行。亦字徵仲,號停雲生、衡山居士。詩文書畫並佳,畫師沈周,為明四大家之一。 本幅成於庚戍年(1550),為文徵明八十一歲之作。畫重巒飛瀑,二人樹下對坐,一童琴旁侍。設色溫雅,筆意秀婉。此幀紙狹而長,構景重疊而繁複。徵明晚年好作此類畫作,晚期吳派亦多受此影響。
內容簡介(英文) Wen Cheng-ming was a native of Soochow who excelled at poetry, prose, calligraphy, and painting. For the latter, he had studied under Shen Chou. Wen later became known as one of the Four Great Masters of the Ming. This painting was done by Wen Cheng-ming in 1550 at the age of 80. Depicted here are serried slopes and cascades. Two figures are shown sitting below a tree with a servant boy to the side holding a lute. The coloring is subtle and the brushwork graceful. This tall and narrow scroll has a composition that is layered up to the top and is complex. In his later years, Wen Cheng-ming often composed such works, which had a major influence on late Wu School painting.
內容簡介(中文) 文徵明(西元1470-1559年),江蘇蘇州人。名壁,以字行。幼年學詩文書法于吳寬、李應禎,畫學沈周。作畫兼擅青綠、淺絳、粗筆山水,又善寫花鳥竹果。吳郡才藝之士皆傳其學,為明季蘇州畫壇領袖。  庚戊(1550年)三月十日,作千巖競秀圖成。跋云:「比嘗冬夜不寐,戲寫千巖競秀圖,僅成一樹。自此屢作屢輟,自戊申抵今庚戌始成,蓋三易歲朔矣」。按此圖傳世尚有別本。是年,文徵明八十一歲。
內容簡介(英文) Wen Cheng-ming, a native of Soochow, was the foremost artist of that cultured city in the Ming. He studied the literary and calligraphic arts with Wu K’uan (1435-1507) and Li Ying-chen (1431-1493) and studied painting with Shen Chou (1427-1509). He was noted for his paintings of landscapes, flowers, birds bamboo, and fruits. Wen’s artistic legacy greatly influenced later artists in the Soochow region. This hanging scroll was completed on the 10th day of the third lunar month of 1550. Wen Cheng-ming's inscription says in part, “One winter's night when I could not sleep, I amused myself by beginning to paint A Thousand Peaks V ying for Splendor, but I hardly finished a single tree. Since that night I have worked on it off and on, and from its beginning in 1548 to its completion now the seasons have made three complete revolutions !” A second version of this composition also survives. In 1550 Wen Cheng-ming was eighty years old.

內容簡介(英文) Wen Zhengming (original name Bi; style name Zhengming [by which he later went] and also Zhengzhong; sobriquets Tingyun sheng and Hengshan jushi) was a native of Changzhou in Jiangsu (modern Suzhou in Jiangsu).
