內容簡介(英文) |
Although the title of this painting mentions plum blossoms, it actually depicts a tit perched on a branch of camellias. Both this and “Plum Blossoms and Wild Birds” attributed to Lu Ji derive from Lu’s study of Bian Wenjin’s style. Both paintings also depict camellia blossoms that follow the rendering of hibiscuses in “Autumnal Egrets and Hibiscus.” However, the brushwork in this painting is stiffer and flatter, being even more distant from the style of Lu Ji, not to mention the seal and signature. It shows that even though this work resembles an imitation, further comparison reveals even more obvious differences.(20120105)
