內容簡介(英文) |
Here with colored silk threads woven against a background of white are a plum tree and camellia in full bloom. A mynah bird is perched on a branch of the plum tree as another approaches in flight, the two calling out to each other. By the garden rock are bamboo and stones as well as narcissi, and on the rock is a pair of pheasants next to each other. Plum blossoms, camellia, narcissi, and dahlia are all flowers of the lunar New Year, the combination with a pair of mynahs and pheasants here enhancing the festive spirit even further.
The tapestry weaving method in this work is relatively simple, the patterns looser and uneven. The use of colors is pure and bright, the hues also clear. Brushwork had been added in many places along with variations in the rich colors, which even include the addition of large areas of color wash. Although achieving fine variations in the colors of the motifs, it also reveals a general lack of skill in the weaving.
